Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 2 lbs (907 g) rib eye steak, cooked, chopped into small pieces
- 10 pieces provolone cheese, diced
- 16 egg roll wrappers
Vegetables:
- 2 green bell peppers, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
Seasonings and Cooking Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup (57 g) butter, divided
- 1–2 cups (237–474 ml) vegetable oil
Instructions
- Prepare the rib eye steaks by seasoning with garlic salt and pepper. Place in a sealable bag with Worcestershire sauce and marinate for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Melt butter in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook marinated steaks for 4 minutes per side until nicely browned.
- Transfer steaks to a foil-lined baking sheet and roast at 400F for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking.
- In the same skillet, sauté chopped bell peppers and onions until vegetables become soft and onions turn translucent.
- Slice cooked steaks into small pieces and return to skillet with sautéed vegetables. Mix in diced provolone cheese until thoroughly combined.
- Position egg roll wrappers diagonally and moisten edges with water. Spoon steak mixture into the center of each wrapper. Fold outer edges inward, then bottom edge up, rolling tightly to seal completely.
- Heat vegetable oil to 350F in a large frying pan. Carefully submerge egg rolls in hot oil, frying until all sides turn golden brown and crispy.
- Remove egg rolls with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil. Serve immediately with preferred dipping sauce while hot and crisp.
Notes
- Marinating Magic Enhance the steak’s flavor by letting it sit in Worcestershire sauce for up to 2 hours for deeper taste penetration.
- Cheese Choices Swap provolone with sharp cheddar or pepper jack for a bolder flavor profile that adds extra kick to the egg rolls.
- Healthier Twist Bake the egg rolls instead of frying by brushing with olive oil and placing on a wire rack at 425F for 15-20 minutes until crispy and golden.
- Gluten-Free Option Replace traditional egg roll wrappers with rice paper or use large lettuce leaves for a low-carb alternative that keeps the delicious filling intact.
